Not supposed to fish for Muskie when water temp is 80. What are the signs of a stressed fish? Fish is released and swims away w/o a problem but “gums” below teeth are red also some red color along belly. Had a short fight and it swam a away w/0 without a problem

Bloody fins. If they are stressed, they won't swim off right away or even stay upright.

My particular Vilas County lake was 71.5 at the surface yesterday with a comparison of 74.5 a week ago. With August virtually on the doorstep and shorter nights already showing, we may have escaped any need to stop musky fishing this year. Again, my personal belief is that we net and photo too many fish when a quick boat-side release is sufficient. With a total admission of not being the worlds best musky catcher, I promise I can accurately judge the size of fish next to the boat. And, you all have my permission to round-up. So, I’d say keep fishing but leave them in the water and skip the net unless it’s a better fish pic than you already have.
