| And then as soon as you throw out the package? I can't remember what day it is most of the time, much less how much a lure weighs. I lump them into catagories. Light(Bucks, Suicks, etc), Medium(Cranks, other jerks, Spinners, etc), and heavy(Bulldawgs, Undertakers, Wabulls, Etc). That's about as precise I need to be to match up rod/reels. | |

| Because most of us would do exactly as I do and pick up their lure and hook it on whatever rod I am casting and toss it anyway. In my opinion a good musky rod is more of a generalist rather than a specialist. I would not be able to function if I had to match each bait to a certain rod. My favorite rod will handle anything from a Bagleys DB3 crankbait up to a 10 inch suick and everything in between with very satisfying results. | |

| Like FSF, I throw most any lure with any rod, excluding the extremes of throwing a mag dawg on my jig rod. If a certain jerkbait needs a certain rod to get the specific action, I will use what is needed.

I see what 52 is getting at, knowing at least in your head what equiptment you will need for the bait. Matching perhaps what you like to do or the situations you usually face to the lure. | |
