Location: Illinois | My Dad and I are looking into going to LOTW next July, We are looking on recommendations on where to stay. Is Sabaskong Bay a good area for muskies in July? We are looking for somewhere fairly cheap and we would like to hire a guide for a day if possible. I was looking at Muskie Bay Resort but don't know if that would be a good option or not. Thank you for any suggestions. |

Location: The desert | Mylies Place is a good spot. Nicely priced and can go a couple different directions and find good spots in each one. I don't think you can go wrong with anyone up there, really. |

Location: Illinois | We have a 14 foot V-Hull Alumacraft. Would it be safe enough to use on sabaskong, or can the wind get pretty crazy?

Location: Madison, WI & Nestor Falls, Ontario | Muskie Bay is a great option even though it's not actually on LOTW. They have a private launch on Stevens Bay which is just to the east of Sabaskong, its all good Muskie water. The nice thing about staying there is you have lot's of options on where to fish, you can pick a different area everyday and never fish the same spot twice. You can also access Whitefish Bay, Sabaskong Bay, Miles Bay, Stony, Crow Lake (has big fat muskies) and even head north to hit Regina Bay and Yellow Girl all from Muskie Bay Resort. Its a good spot, the Trinkner's are good hosts and run a good business and don't overcharge. Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Location: Madison, WI & Nestor Falls, Ontario | It can get very rough out there from time to time, most days your 14' will be ok but there would be a chance you would have to wait out the wind. I've gotten rocked pretty good out there in my 18' plenty of times. Good thing is there are plenty of islands to hide behind but straight from west winds are bad news. |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I’d maybe consider staying out of Nestor Falls or at least not going out of Morson in that boat. Big water out west of Morson and on the wrong day you aren’t going to have a lot of fun out there. |

| Agree with Muskie Brian, nestor falls is perfect for a smaller boat. Not nearly the big water like Morson and some other areas. |

Location: Hayward, WI | Happy to say I will be staying at Mylies again this year. Great resort and I feel the fishing can be very good though I'm still learning up there. Depending in the direction you can stay fairly sheltered. But if the wind really howls you'll have to be pretty mindful of where you fish how far you want to get out. Even the more sheltered areas sometimes have you crossing relatively open stretches of water. Maybe not enough to be dangerous, but probably not fun in a 14 footer either.
But that can probably be said for much of lotw. Overall for a resort I can certainly put in a good recommendation for Mylies place. |

Is the Nestor Falls muskie fishing as good as Morson?
We used to stay in Nestor Falls and did good. In fact we have been going I think 11 years now and our first year there in Nestor Falls was our best year. We eventually explored more and found ourselves motoring out towards Morson from Nestor Falls and after a while figured we would stay there. The nice thing about Morson is you can go multiple directions from the resort. In Nestor Falls we stayed at Red Deer so we would always have to take the same route to go fishing. It is good near Nestor though and I would go back. Like said above there is some areas of bigger water near Morson that can get rough. I have a 16.5' tiller and have been at my boats limits by Rabbit point.

| I would stay at Split Rock, about halfway from Nestor Falls to Morson. Perfect location for you and the boat you are in. Can go both east and west, north to Stoney Portage, without having to cross too big of water. Fishing is great any direction from there. I have fished that area for 18 years......that said, going to the angle in a week and back there this fall, mainly for change of scenery. I don't know any guides, did not need them. Lots of obvious good spots that do get hit alot, but still produce. |

Location: North Saint Paul, MN | I have been fishing out of Nestor Falls for 27 years. Very good fishing there. We used to stay at Red Deer Lodge until they had a fire and haven't opened back up. We now stay at Sunset Cove. I second that on Mike. He is a top notch guide and a very nice guy. You can't go wrong staying there. It would be worth the money to book him as a guide for a day. |
