Location: Lake St Clair | HAHA thats me with the net and the fish was a 52 1/4 that almost didnt fit in the net, i should have practiced my net skills over the winter huh? She was a calm then all of a sudden a wild fish that liked to go under the boat. |

I've learned a few things the hard way, likely the same way many of you have:
-Ignore the crazy words coming out of my fishing partner's mouth
-Read the fish--> you can usually see your best opportunity to net the fish
-Don't over-extend yourself or the net, you have no control or leverage.
-Don't be timid on the net job. Either commit or don't throw it out there, because they don't give you much time to act.
-Although not required, I prefer to hold the bag back with one finger until I push the net into the water. It keeps it from getting caught on boat cleats, rails and worst of all, the bait, with the fish still outside the net.
