| I have muskie fished before but haven't used a proper rod. I would prefer to get a good budget rod since I'm still in high school. most of my fishing will be from a boat and I would like to be able to throw a wide variety of lures. I am not sure what power or action to get, what length either. Is a 2 part handle better(I don't know exactly how to describe it but I'm sure you know what I mean by this) and is 2 or 1 piece better. answers to any of my questions would be greatly appreciated. |

| Few musky rods worth while are cheap. St. Croix makes the mojo musky rod is moderately priced. I like the 8' rod. It's available in 2 pc. |

| You will get various answers here, but I think the general consensus will be an XH rod (roughly 3-9oz rating) that is 8' or over in length. This will allow you to throw pretty much everything except the super large stuff. As far as price/manufacturers, St. Croix Mojo's are a good rod at a decent price. Tackle Industries also has nice rods at a fair price. But to get a decent rod, you will need to shell out at least $130 dollars unless you go the used route. Which is also a good option. |

Low profile. Look into the Abu Garcia Maxtoro. Great reel for the price. |

Really? You actually care what others think about more than your own preference/comfort?
If you gave me a free boat, but told me I had to wear a bass jersey every time I used it, I would have no problems wearing the jersey. I might even try to "lip" a muskie from time to time... |

Location: Land of the Musky | Check out our new line of Vexan rods on http://www.vexan.com Got a ton of inshore guys using them. Same actions as the Tackle Industries musky rods but a new blank design. Cool colors too!

| I would say to start a ToothTamer 8' MH rod and a Abu reel. 6500c3 will work, but the abu toro series are nice. just more spendy... As a starter, this is a sold set up. |
