Location: Washington, PA | Greg, never been there myself, but most troll I believe, but Jody Mills would be the guide I'd go with. He primarily casts, and catches some monsters! |

Location: Orland Park | Greg, I have the same questions. Also, is it stupid to fish out of a Ranger 519, bassboat? I have a mutual friend with my wife, who has a place just off the Bay. I'm hesitant to fish out of the 519. |

Location: MIlton Ontario Canada | Hey Guys
I fish Primarily on G Bay and have been doing so for about 11 or 12 years now. As far as how big it is? It's Huge. You'll have to figure out which part of the bay you want to concentrate your efforts on first then go from there. If you want to fish the Bay itself a good place to go would be Midland or the Severn Sound area it has a whole lot of big fish and it’s probably the closest to the States depending on which way you’re coming up. If you’re thinking about fishing a Tributary to G Bay then the Moon River is probably your best bet and the closest one south. Jody Mills catches lots of pigs out of there and the Canadian Record came out of the Moon River Basin as well. As far as casting or trolling goes? In Severn Sound it’s more of a Trolling mentality that most people go by but I have caught a lot of fish casting as well. Just fishing weed lines and humps or any other traditional structures. The Moon River is more of casting spot but trolling works great there too. The Tributaries for the most part have the higher numbers of fish due to the stained water and higher fertility in the water. I have spent most of my time fishing the rivers right at the mouths pouring out into the bay and have done really well. The last couple years I have been fishing more and more out in the Big water and have had success but not even close to the rivers. The Big water definitely has a better chance at boating a true Hogg though. Some guys I know catch 15 or 20, 50 inch plus fish a year fishing the Big Water. Fishing out of a bass boat won't be a problem at all when fishing the rivers or on the bay as long as its not too too windy. Just make sure that you have a good map of the area and stay in the buoys and you'll have no problems navigating it. If you have GPS that will help you out tons when fishing this big water. I have an X - 15 with a G Bay map built right into it and it makes fishing out there a lot easier and safer for sure. I am heading up to Midland tomorrow morning so hopefully we'll boat a couple Hoggs. Hopefully this helps. If you have any other questions you can e mail me at [email protected]. Also Check out my Massive Muskies web site at http://www3.sympatico.ca/maobrien1 there is some pictures of a lot of the fish that me and my friends have caught over the past few years. Good luck on the bay when you get a chance to fish it and let us know how you did.

sounds like a tuff fishery |

Location: Oshawa, Ontario | Last November there were some HUGE fish caught. I caught a 46 lb, 52" female out of Midland. I was casting and throwing a big glide bait. There was a 55" caught trolling on a 14" jointed "minnow" style bait. As for navigating, definitely make notes on a map - lots of shoals! Launching out of Midland is pretty safe but around Severn Sound, and the mouth of the Moon can be treacherous.
If this is your first trip, and if possible, try to stay for a week. Troll around for the first few days to learn the water, then when you know some spots, go nuts casting!!!
Re. fishing from a 519, should be no problem - but be warned, The Bay can blow up in a hurry - listen to local weather reports and watch the skies!! |

Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | bringing this back to the top, now a future trip to Georgian Bay is VERY likely with the recent monster. I hate to be an "ambulance chaser" type, but this fish just fueled my curiosity for the bay even more and makes me want to get up there even quicker!! |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Greg, I saw a rerun of In-Fisherman the other morning, Ron was out on Georgian somewhere. He stated that if all the muskie fishermen in the world were brought to the Bay at the same time, they would never see each other and have all their own water for fishing; so, it must be HUGE. He only got two when he was there filming. Good luck, hope your plans work out. Maybe someday.....m |

| I would recommend Brian Berriault at 1800-675-4071 he is by far the best guide on the Bay. Jody Mills fishes the Moon and his success rate is horrible, yes he has put big fish in the boat, but I see Brian every week put quality fish in the boat. That and he is a great guy. Your bass boat will only be a problem if the weather is bad. I too fish G-Bay exclusively and it is monster water for monster fish (look at 54x28 thread) If you are here for a week you will see and catch big fish. 50" + are a good possiblity and a WR could be caught as well. Now to troll or cast, well the pig that was caught last week it was casting, but trolling can get u some real bigguns. If you wanna know more emial me
[email protected]
If you do want Brians service email me and I may get u a deal.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA | I was there once when i was in my mid teens. i remember fishing a part that was called sturgeon bay. I looked down and saw a monster muskie just laying there 15 feet from the boat in 4 ft. of water. no cover around, just nothing..i was throwing bass plugs. we were throwing everything at it but it wouldnt budge. this was years before i started actually fishing for muskies so i didnt have a clue of what to do. we ended up scaring her away. i remember it like it was yesterday and how i was shaking uncontrollably haha. ive never seen another fish that big (had to have been mid 50s) |
