Location: Woodstock, IL | It may have the length, but the girth is not of world record proportions.
Don't get me wrong - it's a nice fish, just not even close to the record. |

Location: Algonquin, ILL | Nice fish without a doubt but not even close to world record, The bad part about an article like this is that Joe Weekender goes out fishing and catches a nice fish such as this and remembers the article and pic, then thinking that he /she may have a world record based on the article the fish is now DEAD

Location: Rhinelander Wi 54501 | "He walked around the camp with the fish head for two days showing it to anyone who would look." Pheeeeew... 8 Pound Laker bitten in half? Not by a Muskie, that's for sure. Great story, lots of lore, but rather lacking in grounded reality. That is what makes it a great story. It IS a darn big fish, but not a World record class 'brute' (as the author refers to Muskies)..150 year old fish. Wow. Must be the Omega Fatty acids.

Location: Algonquin, ILL | EVAR D: Cool I hope you get your 50 this fall, based on where you live "Rockford" you have some good potential choices not too far from home Fox Chain, Pewaukee, Madison Chain. But if you really want to up your chances of a 50+ you should really join us on one of the Muskie 1st outings there are a great group of folks here willing to help you reach your goal but be fore-warned the greater majority of us will stress that you get a reproduction made while at the same time not slamming you should you decide to keep your trophy
Good Luck and post some pics when you get it

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Evar, why not let it go and get a repo made?
No reason to kill a fish of 50 inches.
You should really think about getting a repo made, they are more expensive, but in the long run they hold up and look 10,000 times better down the road.
And if you kill a 50, there is ZERO chance of ever catching that fish again. Something to think about.

Location: Jamestown, Pa. | MY first over fifty and everyone after that that will get the same treatment as the first, messure length and girth and release to catch again. I personally will settle for a replica and know in my heart everytime I look at it that she is swimming out there growing bigger while she waits for me to catch her again. I can live with that.
