My brother Tom and I had an unbelievable fishing trip with Marc Thorpe last week.  We caught a ton of big fish.  These were wild fish, the fishing was hot

As a side note:  Tom and I both realize that these big fish do not makes us incredible fishermen, we just want to share the results the trip of a lifetime.  Marc is a hell of a fisherman and if you want to catch some pigs like this, I suggest you book the man.

Here are the stats for the week:

40 rips

26 fish landed

92.5 feet of muskies

43" Average

8 -- 30+ pound fish, including two fish pushing 40 pounds

Here is a list of the fish we caught:

55, 54.5, 54, 53, 50, 49, 49, 49, 46, 45, 45, 45, 44, 44, 43, 42, 42, 42, 38, 37, 34, 34, 32, 32, 31, 30

I got the biggest, at 55", and I got 2 fish at 49".

Tom had the hot hand:  54.5", 54", 53", 50", and 49".

As far as how and where they were caught.....well, we can't say.  So don't ask and don't email me or Tom, because we're not going to tell you.  Like I said earlier, if you want to catch fish like this, give Marc Thorpe a call.  This is a special fishery and the guys who know how to fish it, don't want it exploited and ruined.  Marc (and many others) go to great lengths to protect these waters.  The only way to catch these fish is to hire Marc, because the water is way to big for you to figure it out....even if you had all summer.

I doubt if we ever get into 'em like this again.  It was incredible.  I can't believe that we'd catch 45" fish and be disappointed.  Tomcat and I are ruined forever....Thanks Marc!!!

Here are some pics of the 55" giant that I caught:

What lake were you fishing, what spot, how deep, casting or trolling, who's on first?

Great fish. How fortunate to be on the lake when the fish get hot.

Can't beleive you won't post any info on the pattern or other info used to catch these fish. You could at least give the pattern. Don't have to reveal the lake. It would be nice to know. This is an informational site.

All I have to say is SSSWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEETTTTT!!! Awesome fish guys! Tomcat, that makes up for that one that wouldn't eat your bucktail at LOTW's many times over. Steve you don't look very excited holding that big girl. (<----That is my attempt at sarcasm)

Hey Norm,

No, I wasn't too excited!!!  Ha Ha.  I couldn't believe the size of that thing when I picked her up.

If I ever hit the lottery or make a pile of money, I'm putting Thorpe on payroll.

Tomcat and I already have the full moon of 2004 already booked up.

Oh, I get it! A secret spot, a secret technique and a secret fishery and nobody is going to talk about it except, well, the Hulberts. A fishery and technique so secret the guide turns down people he can't trust! But then his clients go blat on a musky board about how great the fishing is??
But then they post pictures with shore backgrounds too?

Hmm, guess I don't get it...must be drenched in Thorpidium...

Got to agree with a couple previous posters. You guys did awesome - but why post if you won't even share as little info as what you were using? Just looking for some 'attaboys? Well - 'attaboy. Now let me try to learn something on this site.

Uh, what did you tip this guide? I know what I tipped Ace to put my son on his all time best fish and it was a 32" pike. Good grief! You must have really shelled out the money to show your appreciation.

Nice fish by the way! Congratulations! And dry clothes....nice touch.

You can't go up there for a week and NOT catch a 50? Wow, I remember a while back, maybe a month or so, on another board, (101), some guy saying that he was up with Marc for a week and only had 2 or 3 fish over 30 inches during their week. So your words are a little far fetched.

Also Eagle, Rowan, Lake of the Wood, etc.. All put out huge numbers of fish under the right conditions. So I wouldn't talk bad about other lakes.

You boys have a lot to learn.

Guskie

also: That is pretty cheap that you can't discuss the techniques used.

LOL, TM.

I was all pumped to get up that way next month, but the boss said the trip wouldn't be a good use of my time! I told him I would definately get some quality time spent there, but he didn't bite.

Hulberts! What a week! Steve, congrats on the big fish, and also that you actually got to fish the whole time! I bet that little scratchy throat you had wouldn't have kept you from fishing for these pigs!

The Hulberts are my heroes!!! With out a doubt some of the most stand up guys in the muskie world.. "what you see is what you get".. Out of all people I have met since getting into this industry I can only say that statment about 6 people.. Dont let any fools get you down. good for you guys on the tight lip.. I hope you can hold out..

Thanks for letting us take a peek at those monsters.. And congrats!!

And yes, I WILL accept your invitation to come with you guys next year.

I apologize for saying that the fishery is a lot better than LOTW, Eagle, Rowan, etc.  My bad.

I also apologize for posting pics, but not info on where the fish were caught.  But that's where I stand.

If you really want to know how we caught these fish.....they came on a purple jig tipped with a shiner in 30 feet of water.

Man, I LOVE the pics. That's one of my favorite things to see on this board. Glad you posted them. Maybe we'll see you this Sat in IN. Or are you still in withdrawl from your trip? Give me a shout if you're on the water.

Hey, guys
Great fish and really nice pictures! Those fish were looking plenty fat and healthy. That must be a great fishery! Time to take up golfing or something else, because you have reached the top of Muskie Fishing!

I hope my October trip provides some pictures worthy of this board -- you have raised the bar!

Congrats!
