Will be camping on an island , what size generator would i need to charge batteries? I tried googling but couldn't seem to find the right answer Thanks

if you see yourself using one for a long time, get either the Yamaha or Honda 2000. they are comparable. i have the Yamaha and use it primarily for ice fishing, but it would also fit easily into the boat for a time when you felt you want some extra confidence, or for camping, home use etc... i used to have the big 4600 and they are just too huge and heavy to want to bring along. the 2000's are slick ...

Can these be used to plug into an on-board charger and charge a 36 volt system?

A honda eu2000i will be much more than you need for up to 5 banks of charging, more than likely you can run a fan in each tent and lights as well.
