Just a heads up you loyal TE (and LJV) users. Shimano told me that they would normally try to keep making and offering parts for a discontinued reel like the TE for 5 years give or take. They have now started to discontinue certain parts, such as the main drive gear and pinion gear. Both are no longer available from Shimano. They may be available from some of their authorized parts dealers. The pinion gear is often a casualty when using a power handle and the handle engages on the cast. Just wanted you to know that both Richard (Pikemaster) and I have a few sets on hand. But when gone we may be out of luck. If you were thinking of rebuilding yours or you have one that needs work, don't put it off too long.

Yes take the Power Handles off the TE Reels !!!!!
Don’t use them for 10 or 12 bucktails and they should last you a long time.

End of the road for a great reel. It is time though. When did they discontinue the TE?

Dang, I just bought 3 of 'em in 2012 along with new rods and many baits.

(Garage fire in Sept. 2011. -- lost my '97 Ranger with ALL my muskie gear plus a car!)
Hope they hold up, I love them, a lot!!

PIKEMASTER,

No !!!!
I’m checking on a Gear manufacturing company on replacement main and pinion gears but there are so many other parts that will not be available

Need to find a reel to take its place. Lucky I have 7 of them all rebuilt by Dave's in Illinois. Hope they hold up for years.
