Location: Elkhart, IN | I seen a couple of months ago several people were trying Curado's for muskie fishing. I was just wondering if you guys that were trying them boated any big ones and how they held up? Did anyone decide if this was a good idea or a bad one as far as holding up to bigger fish? |

I use mine all the time and have had no problems with big fish.
I use 50# Cortland Spectron and have it on a 7' St. Croix Avid, this is one of my favorite setups, great for throwing bucktails and jerk baits. |

Location: oswego, il | The curado is nice but my garcia torno 3003G will outcast it. I put 65lb power pro on it and it's got the greas of their round reel. I really like it. If you get the 3004 torno, make sure you set the magnetic brake to 10. The 3003 does not have that on it. |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I bought a Garcia Torno and love it. Casts great, cranks smooth, and the drag and gears are holding up just fine.
If you are concerned about the quote "bass" size reels then about 1/2 way in between is the Garcia 5600 Tournament/Professional series. This is a 3-bearing reel with thumb bar, the frame is cut from a block of aluminum and the size more low profile than the traditional sized reels. |

Location: Germantown & Land O Lakes WI | Low Profiles like the Curado were not desigend for the abuse of Musky angling. I've seen too many come back with the drag and line tension adujust not working. When I ask the customers what happened..."I was just throwing Musky Killers and it stopped working" The Curado is only rated for up to 14 Lb. test!
Sometimes you have to think about what you're going to put a reel through before throwing 1-2 oz bucktails. Low profiles are not musky reels. |

Location: White Bear lake, MN | I fished with Al Maas on Leech Lake last fall. He uses nothing but curados for muskies and puts big fish in the boat. I remember him pointing at one of the green reels and saying it was 3 yrs old and zero problems. He varied the gear ratio for different applications; 6.3:1 for most stuff. I'm still using my 6500's and 5500, but the curados were definitely more comfortable to fish with. |

Location: MN | Rockin - I've been using Curado's for 4 years and not one has gone bad.
They are not meant for heavy cranks, jerks, etc..The heaviest I throw is 1oz, and I do not throw all day with it, either. Some of my biggest fish have come on the Curado...
My Curado's became part time Muskie reels because I bass fished exclusively until I got hooked on muskie fever. While they have served me well, I would not recommend them as a full time muskie reels. Your better off in the long run with a 5000 series Garcia or Shimano equivilant..... |

Location: oswego, il | Like mark said, the garcia torno is all aluminum frame and has the same gears as the round reels. It's also much cheaper than the curado and the 3003G(G has the deeper spool) is 5.3 to 1 and seems to handle heavy drag baits quite a bit better. I am throwing my giant "big boy" tm tail with it. |

Low profile reels?
