| I've got a 2001 1750 Fishhawk Crestliner. I like the boat but the 90 hp mercury on it is one cold blooded son of a gun. I would love to have 30k sitting around to get a nicer newer used boat, but that might take awhile. I'm finding some options in re powering that might be a better route for the next 4 to 5 years while I save.
What are your thoughts on the 2012 Optimax? I'm finding them online for about 6k for a 115. I've also seen 2015 115 direct injects for about the same.
Is this a good price? Is this low price a red flag? any one run them or have concerns? Thanks tdp | |

| I ran a Optimax for many years. Very good motor for me. I was told by a mechanic I trust to be sure to warm the motor well before taking off. I didn't ask why, only did as he said. I would warm mine for at least 5 minutes at the dock before taking off. As I said it was a good motor for me.
The price you are asking about won't matter, thats 6 years down the road things will change by then. a 2012 motor will also be 12 years old by then.

Location: Twin Cities, MN | I have been running an optimax for going on year # 12 this coming season, and it has been a good engine for me. Starts each time, strong engine, and I like the growl ( some do not ) Only had one major repair, and that was due to crap /corn gas.
Yes, very good suggestion, let it warm up for a minute or two, especially when fishing in colder temps late in the year like I do. If you do not have smartcraft monitor, or merc monitor, you might want to think about it just to watch your temps. I like to get to 120 before moving out myself.
