Nobody fishing it.
I know I've been fishing Indiana for the last few weeks, anyone hit the Chain lately.

Ralph,
I wish I was tight lipped because of a ton of action (which is not my style), but it is SLOW...at least for me. Casting and trolling has not really shown/produced much and I have thrown and trolled everything. Unless I am really missing a key factor, which is entirely possible..lol.

Anyone else hear/see anything?

Hit the chain for the first time in a few weeks last weekend. Caught one very small fish trolling and raised a very nice fish casting on channel. The boat traffic was the worst I have ever seen and I have been fishing the chain a long time. It was surprising because I thought the pleasure boats took out Labor day but was I ever wrong.

Fishing on the Chain is picking up. Some fish moving shallow and being caught on VooDooTails and topwater baits.  I'll be out tomorrow guiding for a half day.  I'll let you know what we scare up!

Over the weekend Temps were 68-69 degrees. My partner got a 39" on Cathrine fishing the weed edges with a suick. Other than that we didn't see much.

Doc,

I hit the Chain Wednesday from about 2:00pm till around 7:00pm, temps were anywere from 57-60 degrees depending on what lake you are on.
Catherine was DIRTY, the water had sh!t floating everywhere.
Trolled Marie for a couple hours with no luck.
Hit Channel and raised a fish as soon as I got there, should have just stayed there and fished.

Was out Friday..... Beautiful day, got a 35.5" on a Rubber Hairy on the first spot. Caught around a 4lb LMB on a Rubber Hairy too. Trolling motor gave us me some troubles so I trolled and we snagged about a 38" in the tail (thought it was a monster), but it was a quick release. So I guess it turning up, but the cold weather might knock it down again.

I was out Sunday and Catherine was still very stained. Channel seemed to be a little better but not much. I did not even see a fish Sunday.

Hi Ralph, Steve from Frankfort here, hooked you up with the dentist last year. How has Indiana been this year, went over in July, couldn't even get a bluegill to bite for my 6 yr old. How did the weed situation end up on Webster this year? If you have any input on the Tippy, Webster or Barbee would love to hear how it's been. Take care, Steve

I ventured out on the Chain Saturday morning from 6 to 10:30 on a solo mission, my buddy was too busy pheasant hunting. Things started out bad, the motor wouldn't start and my favorite rod/reel froze up. Fishing was tough, I battled frozen line and eyes and didn't even have a follow casting, but, I did manage to land one on sucker.

"Pheasant Hunting" is too strong a phrase. More like "Field Walking". Guess I'm going to have to start borrowing your dog.

Nice fish buddy. And I wasn't even there participate with my extraordinary sucker rigging skills! Maybe next time I can be your net man.

Talk about a bad day on the Chain -- Hit it early Saturday. All the compartments in my boat were frozen shut, boat was frozen to the trailer, battery was dead, left my sucker rods at home. Jumped the battery then the trolling motor was frozen to the bracket, finally got it loose and the foot pedal was frozen. So what normally takes fifteen minutes to get the boat in the water and start fishing, took 2.5 hours.

Oh, and no fish caught.

Chris,

Nice fish, sorry I didn't see you on the Chain on Saturday.  I'll be out once again on Sunday.  Here's a photo of a skinny 34" er my client got on Sunday around 4:00PM.

fished for about 3.5 hours on Sunday and couldn't raise a fish. Overall I heard of no fish caught and only 1 seen in the morning. Did things pick up in the afternoon?

Doc,

I couldn't wait to get to Triangle first thing in the morning and pick up a couple of lively suckers, but, to my dismay they were all out. Fished from 9 to 3 and boated a 36 around noon on an Ernie. Seemed to be an awful lot of boats out there, I think we need some colder weather.

I hit triangle about 7:30 and all that was left were 10-11 inchers. So we dragged a couple of those around and casted. Did you get yours casting or trolling? I also couldn't believe the number of boats out. At one point I counted 15 boats within sight fishing for musky.

I was casting. I really suck at trolling, haven't had much luck with it. I plan on learning more about it next season.

Was on the Chain from 7-1 on Sunday. Raised three fish but no takers. I had to run down to Jim's in Fox Lake to pick up suckers. I am told that Triangle will have suckers this coming weekend.
