Lake/cabin recommendations

I'm thinking about making a solo trip to northern WI in early to mid-November. Since I'll be by myself, I would prefer a cabin rental that has its own boat ramp so I wouldn't have to worry about getting the truck and trailer back to the cabin.

A fireplace would be nice; as well as being able to bring my dog.

I'm looking at Trout Lake, but will consider any good musky water.

I've done the net search but a lot of places that meet these requirements close in October.

Any ideas?

Check out http://www.sunrise-resort.com/ Run by Adam Johnson who is not only one of the nicest guys, but also very muskie-focused. Howie "7Islands" Meyer guides out of his lodge, so he might be a good source of area info if you can't afford to take him out for a day.

You can also try Kerecman's fishtrap resort in boulder junction. No fireplaces but they have nice quiet cabins, boat ramp, electric by the docks, ect. Reasonable too.

If your going then, try to get on a bigger lake. Less Chances of Freeze up. Last Year November 14th was the last day you could get on most of the smaller to medium lakes up there and the big ones were not far behind in Freeze up.

Jim - that is one of the reasons I was initially leaning towards Trout. I don't think cabins will fill up that time of year because it is in between seasons. Therefore, I'll probably wait to see how the weather is in late October before finalizing.

Thanks again!
