Location: WI | Gentlemen, Happy Holidays. Just have a question for all of you out there using the new Shimano 400A. Has anyone had any issues with the star drag loosening while fishing . I have 2 of them one is designated for surface, spinnerbaits and smaller bucktails and the other I am using for double 8/10 duties. I do notice it moving more often on the heavier more resistance baits. Would like to send back to Shimano to see if there is anything they can do about it while still under warranty. | |

| Howdy,
Yes, I have many of them, including the 300, and they all do it. Mine don't move on their own, however, they are easily moved putting reel covers on.
Since the drag star only has one washer under it the range of motion is basically one revolution. As such, any movement has a significant effect on drag pressure.
I suspect when other drag stars have moved in the past under similar circumstance it has been less noticeable due to the large drag range.
Take care,
