I used to buy alot of baits because i needed to build and arsenal. Now i buy baits that fill a niche or a bait i think could fit how i like to fish or want to, a better tool if you will. Definitely not a fad chaser or hero worshiper.

You can always wait until next year when every table at the swap will have at least 3 of last year's hot new lure.

Seems all I buy anymore are replacements for lures that fell apart on me during the season. It never fails that the replacements just don't catch fish like the originals did.

I'm over it too from a bait purchasing perspective. I have a few things I'd like but I won't in a long line. I do enjoy talking with folks and trading stories.

Well it doesn't fill a niche but it helps scratch a off season itch,,I'm definitely getting the new 7 inch Headlock and if I have to wait in line that's fine.

Its not that i need the hot new baits every year. Its like others have stated finding a bait that works for you on the waters and structures you fish. Last season i started fishing some big mn waters and it didnt take long to realize the baits i grew up fishing on weed choked flowages didnt cover every situation! Not to mention for the first 15 years of my muskie fishing career i couldnt afford many baits, so its time to do some catching up!

I like buying/trying the newest stuff that comes out. It's part of what makes Musky fishing fun for me. So why not?
