Location: Illinois-Indiana | I was out last weekend and my foot control is sticking on full power.
I can have the dial all the way off (no speed) and when I hit the pad the thing takes off like it is on 10. No matter what number I put the speed dial on, It's on full power.
I took it apart and there is realy nothing there but a piece of plastic that goes up and down on a pad. I cleaned the pad because it had a little build up on it but that didn't help.
It was kind of rough controlling the boat with two clients fishing, I had to give warning every time I wanted to move the boat so I didn't throw anyone overboard.
Anyone else have this problem, do I need a new foot control?

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I had problems with my AutoPilot foot pad when I first got it, I forgot to unplug it when charging the batteries and it fried a circuit in the footpad control. I took it to that guy in the little shop on Hwy 51 by Woodruff. |

Location: Lafayette, IN | Boy Ralph, you're right. There isn't much to the rheostat on the circuit board itself. My guess (I emphasize "guess") is the board shorted to the full power setting somehow. Since the circuits are sealed Minnkota will probably have to check it out for sure. Didn't toss anyone in the drink did ya? Good thing Phishin wasn't on board. He'd have gone in for sure.(heh heh!) |

| Hey Ralph,
You have another option if the pedal isnt under warranty. You can purchase a new one for around $75 or so, or I believe you can purchase a new circuit board for around $50. This has been my experience with those pedals, I usually wind up buying a new one every season. I am not happy about it, but that is what it has boiled down too. Through personal use, and guiding, that pedal gets quite a work out. Good luck! |

| Had the same thing happen to mine. $78 cost from Minn Kota. Also had to have headboard replaced cost aroung $200 for that. Is great when it is working.

The name of the MinnKotat service center on Rt.51 in Woodruff is "Grizzly Bob." I was in there about two weeks ago and bought a new pedal off the shelf from him. He seemed to have a pretty good supply of pedals on hand. His shop isnt much bigger than the Master Bedroom in most houses built today! |
