| When recently in northern WI, I came across an old Burmek Tony Burmek Secret Bait. I was unaware that this bait had another form in plastic but was very pleased to pick one up for a reasonable price in a color that was probably pike with the vertical bars on the side. This is a narrower version of what is now known as the B1 bomber. It also has a very cool split tail with two downturned curving points. After throwing it a couple times I would say it has a better, tighter action than the big honker B1, and also a better twitch action. The heavy brass hardware looks like there was a tail treble at one time that has been broken off. This bait actually looks like a winner. Wonder why they changed designs rather than working with the original design. Obviously the old one must be much closer to Tony's real secret bait than the new ones and probably much closer to what he caught the 40 muskies or whatever on. Too bad for you guys who don't have the REAL secret bait model. You can throw mine a couple times when you hold down the deck, but their will of course be rental fees. | |

Location: Warroad, Mn | FSF: I have a number of the "older" B1 Burmek lures. Caught fish on all of them, worked pretty good actually, and where better built than the current ones. They now hang on the main beam in the basement along with lots of other lures. Doug Johnson | |

| This is one of the models changes that makes you wonder why they did anything to the earlier model. Bring us a white one with a red head down and we'll catch a fish on it, take a picture and heck, probably could write three articles about it!;-) | |
