I'm in the market for a new stick to toss larger gliders and jerkbaits (10inch phantoms and the like). I prefer 8'6 with a decently long handle and would prefer not to spend a fortune. Thanks!

I would try to find a used LT bigdawg, that is by far my favorite rods for those kind of baits.

Else the TI XXH 9 foot is great, the handle is so long the rod it self doesn't feel that long when working the baits, but don't really use mine after i got the BD

Opinions will vary...the Custom X 8'10XXH or even the XXXH are my favorite rods for this application by far. Right around the length you want with a 19" handle. IMO something with a mod. fast tip and a solid backbone like these have is way better when setting the hook on a fish that hits one of these baits. I used to really like using the big dawg before I started losing a bunch of fish - it's too stiff in the tip for keeping fish pinned on these big chunks of wood or plastic IMO.

If this rod is out of your budget, the 9'0 chaos XXH shock and awe is very similar action wise and would work just well.

You might look at the Cabela's musky rods at a $129.99. There are several lengths and actions. I bought one last year. It's seen limited use but it seems to be a well made rod.

+1..

Forgot to put the 7'0" XXH in the boat today, and the 9' did just fine.
