Location: Ireland | I have a 10" Jake with a broken diving vane . I want to replace this for a new one . Any ideas on how to remove the damaged vane cleanly so as to replace it with the new one ?

Location: Gurnee, Illinois | If you have enough of the old lip to grab with pliers, you can try some heat and wiggle it loose. If that doesn’t work you’ll have to use a dremel tool or a file to grind out the old lip, being careful not to damage the slot the lip fits into. Just go slow and it’s pretty easy. |

| If there is any lip left to grab try that first to break the glue or hold the lip in a vice and try the same. Once you feel the glue is cracked hold the bait in a vice with fibre vice grips just don't do it up murder tight, grip the flat edges of the Jake's body and with a small chisel or punch gently tap down evenly on both sides of the lip taking turns. It takes time but you have to "crack" the glue and it should drive out, some just won't budge and then its the laborious task of cutting and filing. |

Location: Ireland | I used a heat gun to try and melt the glue around the lip , went too hot and lip started to deform ! Back to easy and slow and the lip came slightly loose and broke off at the nub of the lip on the inside of the lure . Used a 5mm drill bit to scope out the remnants of the nub from inside the lure . Did some smoothing and filing and slotted the new lip into place with superglue . Tested it out on a fishing trip before xmas , tracking slightly to the left but a bit of tweaking to the lure eye and we`re good to go . Trolls fine up to 3mph . Thanks for your advice . HNY , Pat |

I already have 3 other 10" Jakes . But just hate to see a lure go to waste for the sake of a simple fix .
Tbh I find the 8" jakes better for more and bigger fish . |
