| Happened quickly. Yesterday the lakes on the chain where I live were at least 50% open. Today they appear to be completely skimmed over. When I fished Tuesday afternoon, I was surprised how quickly ice was forming on rod tip and line guide on reel. Didn't seem that cold out with bright sun shine and the water was showing upper thirties on my electronics. But, that is a sure sign that they are not far from freezing. |

That's funny. I got up about the time you posted this and that was my exact thought. If we are going to be cold, you want the ice to get solid, not be insulated.
