I am thinking about planning a trip to this lake next summer. I've never been there so I was just wondering if someone could provide me general information about the lake. Not looking for specific spots, just general information. Is it more of trophy lake or action lake? What type of structure does it have? Does it produce better at certain times of day (ie. at night)? Etc. Any info would be appreciated.

After mid July a lot of the lake is unfishable with weeds to the top and thick. Mid June to mid July is prime time. Suick and black bucktail with silver blades is standard fare. Chance of catching a monster hybrid. Some beauties have come out of there. It was never kind to me. Good luck

Any idea why the lake grows larger than average tigers?

My guess has always been the location of the lake. I think it's far enough north where the spawning seasons of pike & musky overlap more frequently. They are naturally occurring, not raised and stocked. Also, other lakes close in vicinity to LVD also have produced numerous large tigers like Twin and Big Sand as well as a few others.

Pelican Lake supposedly produced the third largest tiger at 47 lbs. many moons ago. The lake still coughs up some big ones.

Tiger muskies are natural and get bigger than stocked. Just guess! Also low number of tigers get bigger!

75% of the lake is less than 15feet deep so it warms fairly quick and that's why you get Muskie and pike spawn overlapping.
