| Maybe try a meat thermometer. I got one from walmart, seems pretty accurate for suface temp, haven't tried suspending it tho |

Location: E. Tenn | A fly fishing shop would have a conventional glass tube thermometer you could rig up on a cord.. |

Sinking fish tank thermometer.
Tie a cord on with a nail knot, glue it, mark the cord to your liking for depth control, and yer in business. |
