Location: North Metro, MN | Weighted, through wire construction on a jointed mega fly. Always remember...gotta get it wet before you get any action. Oh, and then you'll be able to cast these flyzillas no problem. Took a lot more weight than expected to get the fall right. Breathes, flares & flashes amazing. Turned out around 14-15" & works like a big plastic or jerkbait.
Caught some fish on the Invader, then the tail ripped off & I forgot about it for a while because I didn't have a replacement tail. Thought I'd try tying some feathers & flash on the back. Touched up the paint, added eyes, hardware, and gave it a new life...."Darth Invader". It made it about 20 yards of trolling before the first pike clobbered it. Don't let die, modi-fly!!!

Location: North Metro, MN | Thanks fellas. They definitely have times they seem to get bites over anything else. Cold fronts, clear water, colder water & back of the boat have been the times I like them best.
In a way, the spinner does slow it down. I like the way it falls better without the blade so straight retrieve with rips, slight flares & darker or warmer water seems the blade is a better fit. I was hoping it would fall head down with blade spinning but instead it does more of a suspending pause then falls slowly.
Too much material on the Invader could also cause it to slow down & not troll right too. I usually tie more then trim as needed. More flash & less feather also helps keeps things running better without hindering action |
