Here's a short little video I made of a slow day out on the Niagara River. Nice little 36" fish that came in easy, and a great net job by my friend.
In the 2nd half of the video, you can see me go to remove the hook, and the Musky twists the net and ends up embedding the trailer hook into my knuckle. Always fun the pull the hook out when there's an entry and exit.
Thought I'd share the video as a cautionary tale.

Thanks for sharing and yeah that really sucks... you do this long enough and it's going to happen.
 
However, I never put my bare hand in the net like that and whether it's the smallest pike or largest muskie I always wear a mid-forearm length welding glove on my right hand for protection when popping the hooks out.
 
Weird stuff can still happen though; last year I had an extremely close call when flipping a small muskie off boatside when it suddenly shot out of the water with the bait in its mouth... just missing a hook my bare left hand that I was using for support on the gunnel.
 
I keep that hand well inside the boat now.
