Location: Eastern Ontario | So the MOUTH of a river is where it empties into a larger body of water, making the mouth of the St Lawrence at the Atlantic Ocean.
The CONFLUENCE is where two rivers meet
What would you call where Lake Ontario enters the ST Lawrence the source comes to mind but doesn't seem right.
Some fishing buddies say mouth but I'm reasonably sure this is wrong HELP so I know where I am.

delta
The Delta occurs where the water is going out usually caused by sediment when the mouth is shallow with slow current. Where is the Mississippi Delta |

Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | I believe the word you're looking for is, Source. The source of the Mississippi River is Lake Itasca. Though, as mentioned already, sometimes headwaters is used too. |

The Mississippi Delta is considered to start just south of Cape Girardeau MO, where the alluvial flood plain begins. Also folklore has it the Delta begins in the lobby if the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis..

The source of a river or stream is the original point from which the river flows. It may be a lake, a marsh, a spring or a glacier. This is where the stream starts.
The source is the farthest point of the river stream from its estuary or its confluence with another river or stream. The farthest stream is called the headstream or headwater. They are usually cool waters because of shade and barely melted ice or rain. They may also be glacial headwaters. These are waters made by the melting of the ice of glaciers.
Where a river is fed by more than one source, it is usual to regard the highest as its source. The source is where a river begins, and the mouth is where it joins the sea.The source of a river generally discharges water with less force leading to the formation of Interlocking spurs.
The mouth is not to be confused with the source. The mouth is the delta (where the river meets the ocean).

| Where a river enters a lake is the mouth.
Where a river leaves a lake is the butthole. |

estuary?
Negative. The Bay of St Lawrence is an estuary..
The answer you seek horsehunter, is Lake Ontario outflow. |
