How do you guys spell Muskie. ie or y? Anybody know why there are two different ways to spell Muskie?

To be honest I think its more of a personal preference type of thing but moreover than that I think its regional. It seems like us southerners like musky while the more north you go, they like muskie. That's my take but I'm sure someone will have a better post than this.

Only two of the ways to spell our favorite fish among another 150 or so! According to the late, great Homer LeBlanc, "musky" is a smell and "muskie" is a fish! LOL

Basically it is a localized thing and in Wisconsin it is the state fish and spelled "musky" by most here. Personally I prefer "muskie".
