Hey guys, wondering what everyones prefered woods are for different types of lures and why. I havent made many baits yet, but looking at starting with topwaters, any reason not to use pine?

Thanks

I like cedar for most applications due to ease of carving/shaping. Pine, fir, cedar, basswood, maple and a few other woods are all commonly used. The lighter the wood the more weight is required to get it to sink (gliders)

Pine works fine-- Many lures out there made of pine--should be a good choice for a topwater...

Thanks guys, just started my first prop baits. Turned my first body on my lathe this afternoon. Turned out decent, not just need to wait for tue rest of my components to arrive!
