Subject: muskie shops in chicago?


My buddy is going to chicago for work training, he wants to find a muskie shop to buy some lures. We don't have much here in PA to choose from. Any help would be great.

Regardless of where in Chicago he will be I would say that Bass Pro in Gurnee is his best bet. HE can get a # and hours ( 10PM I think) from the bass pro web site. I think it is http://www.outdoor-world.com/chicago/index.html

Also, Ed Shirley Sports. 5 locations - Morton Grove, Palatine, Countryside, Markham and Frankfort. Lots of goodies to drool over.
If heading out west a bit Kolar Bait and Tackle has a pretty good stock of stuff also.

Kolar bait and tackle is in bartlett on army trail road. Riverside sports is in geneva at rt. 38 and the fox river. Fishing connection is in tinley park on 159th st. Galyan's is in lombard on butterfield and schaumberg by the woodfield mall. There is another tackle dealer in schaumberg too but I forget the name. Midwest rod and reel has stuff at their downers grove and aurora locations both on ogden ave. They lions store does not. Peppers is no more[:blackeye:] . Henry's is near the loop.

These are in addition to the good ones mentioned above.

I would suggest staying away from the Bass Pro Shops as it relates to Musky Fishing. It seems to me that there selection really has made a turn for the worst over the last few years. I live only five miles away and am always dissapointed when I go there. Try Ed Shirley or just about any other shop.

Triangle sports just south of Antioch IL on Hwy 83 has some baits too. They even had some of the new 9" Grandmas back in April.

hi. theres kholer bait and tackle. midwest rod and reel. gat guns sshirly sports. and bps but they are real basic midwest rod in downers is ok.
