Len Hartman caught a 47lb. 11oz. musky on Eagle Lake in '92. It is still on the record book as 17lb. test world record trolling category. I know the fish was mounted. Has anyone seen this mount? Does anyone know who did it and where it is now? I can't seem to track it down.

DDT... I mounted Len's fish.
Here is a photo of Len Hartman holding his 47lb. 11oz. line class world record in the 17lb. test trolling category. This photo has only been published one time in an article by Steve Wickens in Esox Angler. Fish was caught 8/92 in Eagle Lake Ont. and the mount was completed prior to the Chicago sport show in Rosemont where it was on display in Jan.'93. As far as I know, that is the only time it was on public display. I asked that Len be present for some of the mounting procedures so that he could have a hands-on part in completing his fish. Photos were taken of him with the fish in various stages of being mounted. These photos have never been published. Len insisted that the musky be mounted in a straight position since he thought that would be most natural and make the fish appear as large as possible. Upon completion of the mount, I had Len sign the fish under the gill cover in the throat area along with his trademark "heart" logo. The fish is now in the possesion of some very good friends of Len's who paid for the mounting. This was the only fish he ever mounted and if not for his friends insistence and them paying, this fish may not have been mounted either. As most of you know, Len was of very modest means. When in my shop, Len was a soft spoken gentleman. It was a thrill for me since, as a boy, I used to read about the Hartman's and the Lawton's fishing the St. Lawrence. This fish is still on the books as a record and may remain so for quite awhile, given the high size limits and C&R mentality of today. I would be happy to try to answer any questions, should anyone have any.
