I was wondering if your gameplan for fall fishing in non cisco-whitefish lakes is the same. I know in the fall that ciscos come shallow to spawn and the skis come to. In lakes where the forage base is walley-perch-pike etc... do you still concentrate on trolling the breaks? Or do you fish it with more a summer approch? I'm looking to do more fall fishing this year on these types of waters. Trying to game plan early. Thanks

Most of the lakes in my area, even the dark waters, are perch based for muskie forage. I fish the weeds on sunny days as long as there are green weeds to fish, and early or in evening the rocks. Cloudy days and sharp rock breaks make for some of my best days in the late fall, after most of the weed is gone. I don't fish live bait at all, so jigs and gliders are my weapons of choice on most days, with some hair tossed in for good measure. If the fish are active, a Hawg Wobbler or Turd can pop big fish all the way to ice up, as can a zig/zag like a Doc.

In simpler terms, I find the perch, and there the muskies are!
