Is this body of water worth fishing? Was wanting to put some time in, but don't want to waste my time considering there is good fishing nearby for skis.

I've heard that any Muskie that are in there escaped from the paint (maybe somewhere else to?) I could be wrong but I think I heard this from the MI DNR actually. They said that any thing in there escaped from somewhere else and there is no stocking done as far as Muskie go. And I've personally yet to see a report about a fish being caught there. Now that doesn't mean there isn't, but that's just what I heard. If I'm wrong please let me know because it's close to where I stay when I go up there.

Google search Peavy Pond DNR Survey. They did some netting and surveying 10 years ago and not many muskies caught, pike on the other hand...

You talking about the body of water below Peavy dam, where you put in above another dam, where the Michagamme hits the Brule/Paint?

If so never heard of any caught there but its possible I guess, Peay Pond itself on the other hand has some hawgs scattered throughout.

I think I remember looking at a survey and the number of pike captured was more than half the number of perch captured, that can't be healthy. Although I would like to go there and catch some eater pike (they could use some thinning) but are they all little skinny things or is it fairly easy to catch one that meets the min size limit?

There is another resivour below peavy pond called michigamme. It is a second michigamme, the first one well above peavy. There isnt any information that i could ever find on it. I would imagine it is similar to peavy.

Dear Yoopers,
Please come up with new names for your lakes. There is too many doubles, maybe some triples. There is two michigammes, two paint ponds, and I recently found out there is two mud lakes.

It is intentional to keep the undesirables away.

Having lived in the U.P. for 18 years, in the 80s and 90s, I can tell you they get confused as well. The lake will be named, then they say, the one by ****, not the one by ****.
