Location: Clintonville, WI | New water for me on Sunday. On and off weather the week prior and high water had me concerned. More rain forecast for the afternoon. Tried in the weeds first, down sized baits in pockets and inside/outside edges. Not a peep all morning.
Moved to second option in the plan at 1:30. As I'm setting up in deep water, casting rubber off the weed edge it starts sprinkling. Then, two twin 40"ers with shoulders come unglued and find the net within five casts of each other. Then the heavens open up and I'm chased off.
So, success tempered by frustration. I can't help but dwell on the "what if" I didn't chose the loser option first or at least why didn't I move off option one sooner....... |

Location: oswego, il | Ended up with 5 in the mercer area, 4 small and one mid 30"er. I took a pic of it anyway, expect the musky police at my door any minute. Some pike and bass too. Water high and dark, even the normally clear lakes had tanic stain. Could not see follows. Weed growth very slow. Had not been up that way in about 5 years, missed it.

Location: north central wisconsin | The Consolidated Musky Club Inc. Had our annual June outing held in the minoqua area over the weekend. We had about 25 people fishing the area in the continued interesting conditions. There were only 6(WI legal sized) muskies caught(all released). My partner Greg and I had 1st and 3rd place with 48" and 40" fish, with Chuck and Joy Schauer taking second with a 41. Our bites came out adjacent steep breaks, clear deep water. We did see some smaller fish on dark water in weeds. The hatch over the weekend made for interesting open water activity where there had been none in the days prior. Made for a messy boat in the morning too.
Thanks to Heart II bar and grill for hosting our outing/awards. The service and food was great.

| Landed a 42 and lost an upper 30's. Muskie action was slow but the pike went off with the cold weather. Not really what I was wanting to get into but probably cracked 100+ on the weekend with the biggest at 37". In other words I lost a lot of fishing time unhooking snot rockets haha. |

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Battled cold, wind and constant rain showers in the Land O Lakes area for 3 days. Had numerous opportunities with a lot of short hits and swing and miss blind fish. My son managed 1 in the net on Sunday and I had a mid 40" take a swipe at a top water at boatside, missed the lure but stuck the rear treble in the center of its skull. 10 seconds of pandemonium and it went air born and shook the hook. Left me with an elevated heart rate and a trophy scale on the hook point. Overall a fun weekend.
On the plus side; no sunburn to deal with and I found a new way to clean the cork handles on my rods. Drying out everything today I noticed that the handles look like new after sitting on the deck for 3 days of constant off and on rain. |

Location: oswego, il | Worked on and reajusted my boat trailer on my small boat, installed a new terrova on my new boat. Birthday party for my son, went to see Collective Soul and Shinedown at Ribfest, worked Monday, bled one of my fishing partners trailer brakes. My son played patriotic songs under the bathroom door this morning while i took a shower, i had to point out It Ain't Me is a protest song. Now off with him to do something extremely patriotic, sushi!

I thot Spencer's article in MH last year proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that casting is more efficient and covers more productive water than trolling. |

Location: St. Lawrence River | We boated a 49", 46", 45", a nice 38" pike, and had a monster go round in the 8 like 3 times. Oh man was it big. Also lost one boatside 40+, and lost one a little farther out on the cast.

| I moved 4 fish, and one of them I got to follow 8 times and go a few laps on the fig8 with 8 different lures... Okay it probally was not the same fish but they were on a spot smaller than 100 yards and 42.3" long and I made three laps through there.

The trollers catch more fish here but me and my pals enjoy casting much more. Been tough so far for me though, missed a couple but put none in the net Monday evening. |

Location: oswego, il | Hit heidecke, needed to launch the little boat to check out the trailer which still sucks. Got under the bridge, caught a smallie on my first cast. Caught some more and a few other species including the biggest walleye i have caught there. Was a surprise giving the depth i was in, the clarity and 82 degree water temps.

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | Saw a few decent fish and lost 3, all of which crushed baits and ran straight for the boat. I thought last night was going to be amazing between the moonrise, full moon, and approaching storms, but it wasn't meant to be. I probably would have stuck it out a bit longer, but I had my son with me and the storms/lightning looked pretty nasty. |
