Probably anything that isn't Power Pro
I have heard this from a few guys and some guide buddies of mine and can't figure out the reason for it? I have been using power pro almost exclusively for over 10 years now and have not had any failures. All I ever hear is keep using it and you will find out sooner or later. Well I will keep using it because it's been great for me but I also change my line every year or so unless it looks like I should sooner |

| power pro is awesome. thin, strong, cheap, cant blame the line for a snaplash, that is operator error. i can still remember 36# muskie master, that was about 6 times as thick as 80# pp. |
|

|
| they are all good,i like p line and spiderwire,i am really impressed by the new thing made by power pro i think it's 15 percent smaller ,but it's way too expensive for the lil difference |

imo you should learn how to cast or make a better knot, that horror story will be like a nightmare.depthraider is light like a bass lure seriously........ |

| tied a palamour knot and it snapped on the cast about a foot above the leader as i casted resulting in a backlash only time its happened though |

Size or diameter is not an issue. If it were we'd be using line half the poundage than what we currently now. I mean do we really need 80 lb test? The main reason we use the high poundage is so we get enough dia so that we dont get dig in during a backlash thus sending your lure on a Ucker call ....... its going, going. gone. |

|
| yes i need 80 lbs but i prefer 100 lbs because when the power handle engage it don't cost me 30 bux of plastisol each time and yes smaller line diameter is a plus,it make longest cast and troll better because it's a lil bit less of line out.so the 100 lbs is just for pounder ,before pounder age i was using 65.not less because when you get stuck at the bottom the mustad 3551 will open but with less it break and once again you lose big money.
im talking just for my self i have not been elected to speak for the others........ |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I picked up the Max for $25.00 for a 150yd spool. I think the regular pro is around $20.00. I do like the smaller diameter of the Max. My buddy tried my reels with the Max and was really impressed with it. The following weekend he was changing out his reels. There is people that probably have more experience with line issues and things then me. This just my opinion. I do find it funny that people question the price on other threads I have seen. |

What does a palomar knot have to do with a break a foot away |

| it doesn't, i was replying to supertrollr and explaining that t wasn't the knot that snapped the line |

| I had never had an issue with powerpro until Sunday....Went to cast and snap no backlash or anything and line snaps Mid Line 80lb powerpro Luckily Had a Suick On that floated so Didnt lose Lure or leader...picked it up from water with leader lure and about 35ft of braided line...Sure It had to get abraised at some point or something i SURE hope cause I would have lost fish instantly |

| I have had line snap on a hook set break half way from rod tip to fish. Heartbreak!! change you line or flip it at the end of the year. I put #100 on my sucker rods and #80 Sunline on casting. |

| Cortland masterbraid in bronzeback for summer in 100 pound and power pro 100 almost exclusively in the fall. Noisier but doesn't pick up the water to keep ice buildup down. |

Location: MN | Backlashes happen from time to time, even for the guides and 'pros'. It's nice to have confidence you won't lose a bait when they do or, worse yet, lose a big fish on the hook set. I lost confidence in PP. I've been happy with cortland masterbraid so far. I've also been happy with 832 although I haven't used it a ton. |

| Power Pro for years (more of a product loyalty; it hasn't failed me yet) ...I flip it to double the usage and change it as needed. I will say the color (moss green) bleeds some when brand new. Also cut back several feet after heavy day of use. I'm sure almost all modern super braids work well. |
