Would you tend to use a dive and rise jerk like a Suick in and around weeds and timber and a Twitch bait like a Grandma more around rocks gravel etc? Or it is a personal preference?

either or, one of those style baits is not exclusive to any type of cover. Use the bait you feel more comfortable using in a given situation.

You can use either in any scenario, but as a general rule if running the bait into the cover I do tend to say twitchbaits will be more snag proof in rocks where the dive and rise will perform better in weeds and wood. Dive and rise might even be better in rock too but for the most part crankbaits seem to work pretty well in rocks.
