| Hey all, hoping to gain some insight on a reel I purchased. It was on sale for fairly cheap price however it was a store closeout so I was told I can't return it. After some research I have found that I should have more likely purchased a c3 instead. Besides musky cranks, bucktails, and super heavy lures, are there any other restrictions I should put on the reel? Can I use it for smaller crankbaits? Bass/walleye size rapalas? I also use large topwaters a good amount, is it suitable for topwaters with mild drag? | |

| I have used AG C4's & C3's for years: relativity inexpensive & easy to maintain. The C4 is 6.3 @ 30 IPT and the C3 is 5.3:1 @ 26 IPT. Both will handle your small to medium lures (1/4 oz - 3 oz). Over the years I've updated mine with new carbon-matric drag washers (newer ones come with them) and added upgraded Boca Bearings. I still use them but they can't compete with the
new AG Toro S or Beast (which can handle almost anything). I tried power handles on the Ambassadeurs's to handle doulbe 8's & 10's but IMHO that was to much for the reels. Stick to the smaller lures and your C4 will serve you well. | |
