Finally got my 500hg...pretty pumped to put it into service for t for big rubber and big blades and big Jakes.....I'm using a 300e Curado for glides and smaller jerks.

What other applications for the hg?

Large jerkbaits, e.g. 10" phantom.
Truly burning small bucktails dc7's and 8's and spinnerbaits trough weeds
8-10" weagles top waters.
10-12 inch suicks
8-10" Raptors
Ripping smaller cranks trough weeds

You can use it for tons of baits, it's an awesome reel i have 2 both with power handle, takes a bit of getting used to jerking with the high IPT.
In the winter time i generally fish a lot slower and use my slower reels, but the rest of the year, they are my go to reels.

8's and 9's, rubber from mini medusas to pounder size baits, and small to medium cranks. I do not like using it for jerkbaits or wtd topwater baits because it is too fast IMO.

I have 2 rods with HGs on them... one for plastics..dussas, mag dawgs, etc, also use this rod/reel for big jerkbaits, mega barfighter, intimidator and 10" phantoms.. one rod with the hg for bucktails.. double 8s on up

These guys nailed it. I use it for everything but topwater typically. Not that you can't use it but I have 100lb brain on it so I like another reel with lighter line for that situation.
