Location: Menomonee Falls, WI | Looking for "cold" compression numbers for a 95 175 XRI EFI. All I can find are numbers for the engine at operating temperature. I got an initial test with the engine not at operating temp. 6 cylinders were at 95 and 2 cylinders were at 94.5 just curious ihow much higher the numbers will be at operating temp. Any thoughts from some Mercury gurus? Thanks in advance for the info.

| I have been told that you can not get accurate compression cold. The rings/piston are not sealed completely when they are cold and readings are inaccurate.
However, youre readings are at least even which is good.

Location: Hayward, WI | Cold isn't the best way to do it, but your numbers don't indicate any problems. Best to redo them when warm, or better yet to a warm leak down test. |
