I'm looking for some feedback on this reel. Has anyone used it for throwing big rubber?

According to the specs, they seem like they are pretty decent quality.

I see they don't make a 471 in lefty. Biggest/fastest I can go is the 463. After looking into them a bit more, I have seen nothing but positive reviews for these reels.

I wonder if I could get a 463 and then have the 471 gears installed...

Never ran an okuma, but I think the gears would be mirror images when switching from right hand to left hand meaning they won't work in a lefty

This is correct. Left hand gears are mirror images of the right side gears. If this were not the case then reel makers would offer lefty reels to every reel they make. Machining gears is very costly to set up and make a many thousand run.
