| Looking for options or opinions on a simple trolling set up - would like to get 3 dedicated rods for it. Interested in thoughts preferred rods/reel combos - will not be running any planner boards...yet - thanks! |

Location: St. Lawrence River | Getting into trolling is easy. Shimano TDR 8' Heavy rod, and a LC reel. I like 6500LC's. 50lb PP down to a 5-6 foot 150lb fluoro. You can go heavier on main line but the 50 dives better then the 80. |

| Sent you a personal message. 8 ft heavy or extra heavy rod of your choice. I like Abu rods but I think lots of guys run cheaper trolling rods....even ugly sticks get the job done.
Mono works better for planer boards bc braid tends to slip.
Down east rod holders are also pretty much the standard.
Shimano Tekota line counter reels are amazing. $20-50 extra up front for the Shimano Tekota reel is a no-brainer in my opinion. The buy once cry once mentality. Hope this helps! |

| We like to use 80-100lb braid. If you get hung up and can't free with a lure retriever the heavier braid will help pull it up without breaking. |

Location: oswego, il | For reels, i like okuma convectors and diawas. If you get a diawa, get an aftermarket handle for better cranking power. The okuma comes with a big handle. Rods, 7-8ft heavy glass. Cabelas, bps, all sell them cheap. I used to like longer rods but you have to back way up for a net job. Line, braid, 80 and 100. Double wrap the planer board clip. Church boards and scotty rod holders for less swearing and ease of use. |

exactly way to go with Rods cheap and work great...Id throw a new Revo Toro Max on it can get them for about $100 and like this much better than the round ambaseduer reel and about same money |
