I love my Tranx, but if the power handle is "up" when i cast it often times rotates down thus closing the bail mid cast. I watch for it, but it still happens occasionally.
Is there another handle that isnt so heavy on one side? Let me know if anyone else has this issue and what the best solution might be.
Thanks

I don't have a tranx but my other reels I keep my thumb bar pressed down...do this and the reel can't engage or they can't on my other reels.

Same with Beast/powerhandle. Keep the thumb bar pressed it won't take long for it to be second nature.

It only took me about an hour to get used to keeping the thumb bar pressed, and Im generally awkward and unskilled. No need to ever worry after that.

My fix.
If I push the thumb bar down slower to disengage, the handle generally falls down to the low position "no engage zone" ready for my "far too often-way too hard- overcast" that I tend to do.

I put the unbalanced NACL power handle on my TranX. Extremely light handle and I haven't had the mid cast engagement issue. Also helps the reel balance better side to side. The stock handle made the combo want to roll in hand.

I had to drill/tap a new screw for the piece that holds the reel handle nut.

Jigging World offers aftermarket power handles...amazingly lightweight, so no issues with closing the bail on the cast. Both the Tranx and Trinidad handles will fit on the Tranx 500. The Trinidad ones are longer and offered in more types, fwiw.

On a related note, I asked the Shimano rep in the booth at the Milwaukee expo if Tranx 500 handles would fit on the Tranx 400. He had no idea and acted like my question was stupid. Really? I can't be the only one that'll want a longer power handle and am interested in fit...
