My inlaws just booked a cottage on Stanley for a week in August. I read the post about Chicagon and the area and it had some good info. Is it worth putting in time on Stanley? If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!

I have fished it but not for musky. Rusty crayfish ate every weed in the lake and you could not work a minnow near the bottom without one grabbing it. With that said, caught quite a few walleye and bass on lures around the wood from laydowns and did catch a musky.

Next time Im up there Ill bring my crayfish traps and put a dent in them. Tastiest invasive species control you can do and pretty fun! There must be some huge smallies on Stanley then too Id think.

Nothing i caught was really big but it was fun to fish. Camp lake right next to it suffers from the same problem with crayfish.

They are good eating, boil and eat!

Thanks for the info, I may try a little for muskies or just have fun with the smallies. Maybe I'll trailer over to another lake at some point.

Just remember to clean your boat off good before traveling!

Im heading up this weekend for a week with the family. I was debating going to Chicagon or Emily. With my skill it sounds like Emily might be easier to fish. Does anyone have any advice or tips? I am willing to travel a little. Is there a bait shop nearby as well? I will be putting in some time on Stanley as well. Feel free to PM, and thanks for the help!!!!

Lucky's bait shop is right on US 2 just east of town. It has been a few years since I have been in there though but from what I understand he is still open.

Ask Gloria at Luckey's what to do. You'll see fish on Emily, but they've seen every lure that Rollie's sells. Stanley can be good at/after dark. Can't have enough safety-pin spinnerbaits in Iron County.

Good thing Rollie's doesn't sell Kramers
