| Need to upgrade the electronics.... Currently have an ancient lowrance depth finder and 50lb motorguide trolling motor. I was going to purchase a new terrova or ulterra. I like the auto deploy & stow. I also need some screens and am thinking I'll do that first and just struggle on with the 50lb Trolling motor for now.
Was thinking of getting two helix 10s for console and bow. So for console. But maybe the new 12s if I can find a deal would be better?? Would there even be much of a difference if I went with the 9s?? Others than screen size obviously. I plan to link all together and upgrade trolling motor with I link.
I don't get to fish all that much not living close to the action as well as life's intereferences. So I'm not trying to blow 10k. But I plan on using the setup for years to come.
Any help or ideas would be great.
Also if anyone switch to lowrance/ motorguide is there any pluses over hummingbird/minn Kota??

Location: South Central Wisconsin | What are you thinking for the console, SI, DI, or??? I personally would go with the biggest you can afford, especially if you are going with the SI. As far as the bow, I'd go with a 2nd generation 7, unless you are going with SI. You can link the 2nd generation 7. I am in the same dilemma as you and I'm going with a 7 Sonar/GPS on the bow, and probably a 9 on the console. |

Location: Minnesota | Size dose make a difference. When your looking at si it's easier to pick up the smaller details my first boat i had 7s I have 10s now I have never heard any one say wish I would have bought the smaller unit's |

you need to decide if you want the DI! on you tube there is a lot of info and you see both beside each other . and doug varenberg and the technologic angler have courses on you tube to help understand what you are viewing on the screen. it is a good way to see what you want and how much you want to spend !! there is almost no limit $$$$ |

| Running an additional sonar transducer on the bow mount tm like ulterra is not a clean finish. Di is not required for anyone. Di will not show you bait and or fish as easy as 2 d sonar that is built in and is a clean finish. No wires, zip ties, transducer for weeds to snag or tm operating to break or be hindered by.
My recomendation is a 10" 2d/GPS (gen 1) bow
And a 10-12" si,di,2d /GPS gen2 mega imaging at the wheel.
9" is the same dimensions for the housing and a smaller screen with fewer pixels than the 10". Larger screens are easier to see especially 6' away. Like standing and cast get at the bow. And as said seeing si images larger makes it easier. Also looking at maps is the benefit of size.

Yes, after all my gatherings this pretty much sums it up. I'm going to look for a deal for two 10's. I'm not sure i need to spend several hundred $$ more for a 12". The 9 would probably be fine, but 10 is such a nice rounded number ha |

So would you consider the Autochart and bluetooth capabilities on the G2N models a significant advantage over the regular models? The more and more i gather it seems like the options can be limitless for these monitors...by the time i get all the facts on the current models they have two new ones out that are bigger and more features.

I found a screaming deal on a 12" helix SI Gen 1. Since they came out with the Gen 2's and the new 15" Solix.....
I got my 12" helix Si for $1500 shipped from a vender on the BBC bass forum. I had a 859si. The helix 12 is amazing. Almost too bright! Make sure to get the big 2 1/4" ram ball for mounting tho because the thing weighs as much as a flat screen!
If you can swing it get the 12. It is way bigger than the 10" when you compare.

That bright screen is crsip and clear, I'll agree. During the days of summer sun it also allows you to see the screen while wearing sunglasses, without the need to pull your glasses down over your nose. Tap the power button and it will show a menu in which you can adjust your screen brightness when fishing in lower light conditions. |
