I am interested in upgrading to one of these at the helm. Any input from users?? I was doing as much reading as I could, I could not determine, can you change depth shades on gps mapping with this unit, say with a navionics gold+ chip..? All the given images appear to be very bland and without much contour shading. The helix 9 appears to have excellent depth shade abilities. Other then this, I like the elite 9 better.

Thanks for any input.

I believe that you can do the shading when you have the Lake Insight HD chip.

What does the chip have to do with shading? Isn't it a function of the unit itself? I have an Elite 5 that I would like to be able to have shaded depths. Would a different chip make that possible?

I've been told the functionality and performance of the Elite TI is very similar to the Gen 2 touch. Feedback, thoughts, and review much appreciated. Am considering getting either a 9 or 12 for my front deck usage. Thanks.

Jake,
The Lowrances are on the bow so I haven't noticed any speed or lagging issues. I have a Bird at the console.

That's very disappointing I really wanted one of these units.

The Elite 9TI has the same built in gps as the gen 2 units. Both 10kHz
Shading is usually dependent on the mapping chip used.

Which charts are being ran? Navionics or Lowrance Lake Insight or other?
