Hey fellow musky nuts. My girlfriend and I have just started getting into tying the tails for big inline spinners and we are unsure of what to use and where to get marabou and feathers. We have seen them in fly tying shops and online but we are wondering if this is the same stuff. If anyone could provide some insight we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance everyone!

You can buy it from most outdoor shops, it's the same stuff. Word of advice, u have to do alot of sorting to get good feathers or it just builds up too thick along with the head. Less is more with the marabou or else you end up with a mop. Takes some getting used to but definitely sort out the thicker stems and that will help.

There are varying qualities however I've found that the regular stuff works fine.

Also head to a craft store and pick up a good quality pair of fine tipped scissors. Makes cutting and cleaning up ties much easier.

I don't make my own Muskie lures but I do tie some panfish/bass flies and I use marabou and feathers all the time. Like said above make sure to sort out the feathers and go light on the marabou. You can find it at most outdoor shops, but I've found that looking on eBay and amazon can give you some great deals. And when you spend less you can get more and go threw and pick the best shapes and size feathers for what your doing. Hope this helped (:

I make mine with a combination of marabou for body and long thinner feathers for action/accent.
