Merry Christmas everyone! Our annual pilgrimage to Canada has to be altered next year as one of our founding fathers has had some recent medical struggles. He requested that we stay closer to the states so we are looking to stay around the Sabaskong Bay area on Lake of the Woods. Which leads me to requesting your opinion on a resort?

Our trips has consisted of LOTW, boating in from Kenora and Lac Seul the remote NE section. We normally do not bring our own boats, so rentals are a requirement. We are self sufficient for food/drink as we always bring our own. We really enjoy the wilderness and would like to feel as remote as possible yet not far from a hospital if needed. We have stayed at Red Wing Lodge in the past and enjoyed it but we were looking for a possible island camp to get the remoteness feeling.  Our time frame is 2nd or 3rd week of August. Any help is most appreciated, thank you all in advance! Merry Christmas and a happy & healthy New Year you you all!

I would check with Todd at Tamarack Island Wilderness Lodge. Close enough yet away from all the normal civilization. Gateway to great fishing

I second Todd at Tamarack, we have stayed there the last three years. Good fishing close to camp and you get the feeling of remoteness.

3rd.time.....Todd at Tamarack is exactly what your looking for. We were up there that exact timeframe last year and did well. He will have openings that time of year but it's getting busier so don't wait too long.

Take a look at Duck Bay Lodge on Hay island. First class if you like the full American plan. Right in the heart of some awesome spots.
