| We are going to push back our annual trip to the NW Angle from the week of July 4th to the end of July.
My question is: Are we going to be getting into some ugle algae bloom mess or does that not usually start until later in August?
Thanks - Matt Beulke |

| Depends on where but it was already blooming in some areas by the 4th. |

| Yeah I know. We ran into some bloom already the week of the 4th this year. I am afraid of what it could be like a few weeks later.
We usually stick to the Monument Bay, Big Narrows areas. |

| The bloom will be worse as the month progresses. Stick with the first week of July...you can't go wrong. |

Location: in the white boat | Hey Matt, just got back from the Angle last night. Bloom was minimal at best, with some areas only slightly green, and we never really pulled into any spots that were unfishable. Wind has been doing a good job of moving the bloom around. I was very happy with the water conditions since I was assuming that by this time it would be paint.
Fish are still going good too, with 90% of our action on the rocks. Spinnerbaits, bucktails and topwater accounted for most of our lookers/biters. I'm sure a full report will be posted by jlong, or MRoberts or one of the ERC guys that were in camp, so I'll let you read their report when they get back. Those boys did a little better than we did.
Good luck! |
