The phrase you are to find is in a post on an OutdoorsFIRST forum, and is EXACTLY as it will be deciphered by the expert minds here on MuskieFIRST. That phrase will lead you to a prize not mentioned, for if it were, the game would be afoot.

Prize is a Friday night and Saturday at Worrall's Hideout any time in the 2004 fishing season, 1 day chasing muskies, meals, a six pack of Violent Strike baits, and a MuskieFIRST T Shirt.

Clue number 1:

Mason

Who is Edmund S. Muskie, 1972 democratic (liberal) frontrunner for the presidential nomination and former US senator, who, through his own mistakes and the shinanigans of former president Richard Nixon, never saw the nomination

Shep gets the first one and wins a Violent Strike spinnerbait. I will toss it at you up on LOTW, sir. Mason Dixon Line it was we were looking for. Now...

Clue number three: Riddles are cool, and fun to contruct, tough on the mind but fun to make up; this is a riddle, it leads to what you seek, it isn't in a river or up a tiny creek. The answer to this riddle WILL NOT BE FOUND FAST; think slow, think hard, you will find it at last.

A riddle I am, and a Riddle I'll be. I can be three things, eventually. ID me and win a spinner, as IDing me will certainly spin a new winner. This will not win the BiG one, but will lead you along; is better to be right than entirely wrong.

Shep is a master at getting them right, up to the finish with all of his might. He gets another Violent Strike with his new correct line, now figure out what it means to advance more this time!!!!

AHHHH, the confusion..

Where IS that water, anyway?????

What do you seek, today's item or the end all prize pack? It may not be what is needed now, to find your way back. Clues point to one thing, then maybe another, by the end of this contest, you will be cursing my mother.

I am what was said in a post recently, but the context is wrong, you need to re-present me!

Tossing out answers willie nillie you see, won't get hardly a rise out of me. I want to be told what it is you discovered, not get the contents of your mental riddle cupboard. Be specific with the answer, not broad and slinging; that is the way to the prizes, and will get the Riddler singing.

EViLOnE has it ( and a Violent Strike), but what does it mean, ice can mean many things; so much it may seem. Find this new object, the object of wonder, and the hiding place for the next one will fall all asunder.

I am a thing, a thing I might be, yet I also am a verb, and action packed theme.

SPonger and EViLOnE have it, a bait they will get, now what does this have to do with the rest of the set?

ALL of the clues mean something, you see, now we go elsewhere 'a hunting' for me.

Why was Riddler talking of ice in the Summer, Tip-ups in July, could anything be dumber?

So what have we now, the items we selected-- from the weird clues we had, and the items rejected?

Be not tempted to look at a  season for me, as I can hide nicely in the cold or the heat. I am the item you seek for the win, the one you seek now, the Riddler's 'punch on the chin'.

I am not easy, NOT EASY TO see, If you want the true winner, look above me.

Yup. Bad ice here too now. Not long though, not long. In exactly 5 months, I will be standing on the ice on Thunder, or Pelican, or somewhere during the holidays. TIP-UP!!!!!

Or it could be the previous post, about finding good ice in my Kitzigen Water! hehehe

Ice also usually ends up in a cooler. Not exactly what I envision as a widget, though!

Key word is above. A tip-up usually has a FLAG on it. And the flag would be above the ice.

Clue number 2 was Nixon, rhymes with something else. Mason Dixon line, divides what from what? Where is ice, usually, in regards to that line? That led to the next clues, which answered water and ice, then tip up, then "Shep, What"? Sort of. Which is where we are now. Kind of.

Shep was so close, his toe was on top of the item we seek, what it does rhymes with top. I guess I will conceed the flag part to him, but that isn't exactly what we want, it is VERY close, Slim. 'Flag' it will be, and another clue's due, playing on that one, and another one too.

A post holds the answer, sort of, you see. A sort of a post  comes off of the middle of me. Hoo Boy.

Alright, I'm going nuts here.

"A post holds the answer, sort of, you see. A sort of a post comes off of the middle of me. Hoo Boy."

Other than an oar (swORRal), a fishing rod held in your hands, or your neck, I can't think of a post that comes off of the middle of me. Please refrain from any cutie-pie responses to that one!

Ok one more guess.

A post holds the answer. Assuming "post" is figurative and not really a message post, it could be a fishing rod. A fishing rod would hold the reel and don't some tip-ups have a built in reel? That would explain Shep being close with "flag" since he was nameing parts of a tip-up.

Reel. If that isn't it, I give up (maybe).

Ok, I'm going to ramble a few more guesses before going to bed:

Fishing line (spooled in the middle of the reel, moving back and forth guided by the levelwind)

Spool (in the middle of the reel)

Flag wire (on the tip-up, which holds the flag and obviously moves back and forth)

NO GIVING UP!!! Just pull back off the trail and regroup; review the information available, then wait in ambush...sooner or later a hapless clue will appear; at that time use what you know and "snipe" the answer, claiming a part or all of the prize. Haven't seen frozen water meself in years; I can only pull the pin and hope a fragment of an answer hits the mark, thus making this time of testing all worthwhile!

If I were a betting man, my bet would go on "spring". A spring can pop or hop and both rhyme with top. Plus "ice" turns to "water" in the "spring".

Dang, I wish I knew that tip-ups had springs!

Then again, I thought that either I or someone else had it in the past and didn't come through.

AHHHHHH again!! The Board of Directors it is, and now we begin

the final approach to the PRIZE you will win! I am what this says, sort of, not exactly, I am what I am, just actual factually.

I know the question is there...

Three--

Bored (emotive, too)

Board as in wood

Board as in Board of Directors

Mentioned Board before, trolling board

Flag led to tip up led to trolling board

The rest led to this stuff.

Yup. I am twisted. Nutz. And I am having way too much fun here.

NOW I will get tougher, I was too easy tonight.

Read Muskyjakes post, he said it quite well!!  Everyone after miserably fell

Into the trap of trying too much, coming up with this, and that, and such.

What did he say, there in his post, he had it ALL right, or nearly; almost.

Or is ice no longer one of the clues? I'm lost.....

Shep talked of planer boards and other things we found, Muskyjake talked of things and a Violent Strike abounds, look to the WORDS, the WORDS are the key, to find the master prize and come north fishing with me.

The words that will win are in the two before post, every one of them are there, just not in the order desired most!!!

This is NOT that hard, guys, you are trying to much, with guesses and ideas not attached to the clues answers and such. Three words are what you seek, three little simple dittys, will get you the win, if not, it's a pity!!

Not that hard? Easy to say considering you're the only one that knows the answer!

Up north fishing?

I'll bet we're all going to slap ourselves when we found out what the answer to this torture is!

Three little words, that is all that you seek, I want this thing won by the end of the week!!

We spoke of many things, but I gave away lures- for the CORRECT words and guesses, I kept the giveaway pure.

Muskyjake had a color in front of one needed, then had the other two CONNECTED in ONE POST (He pleaded).....

If I said any more, an easy quiz this would be, now thell me the answer, tell the answer to me!! find the three words, and the end game begins, finding those words--- OutdoorsFIRST they are within! :

The FINAL leg of this trip!!

Clue: I am in here somewhere, you must search to find me. It will not be hard to find, I stick out like a tree. I might be cold, then again I might not, one thing I can tell you is the finish will be HOT!

THE RACE IS ON!!!!!!!!!!

I transferred all the data from the old board to a new, enhanced message board format. A couple of posts were lost (Gander Mtn post was one of them), and you'll have to redo any signatures yo may have had, but everything else made it intact, including usernames and passwords.

Check out the photo albums. You can make your own photo albums it is a really nice feature.

If you have any problems email me at [email protected].

I am writing this from work on a high end machine running 2000NT-PRO. You see that I can't post from my computer at home. In fact I can't read the OutdoorsFirst pages. They load but will not display. The "enhanced" pages and message board now in use are built with nonstandard tables which are designed to screw up anything but the newer Internet Explorer versions. The only reason IE has the most users today is that Microsoft gave the system away free to AOL and some other ISP's when the net was in it's infancy, not because it was the best browser around. Hey, I can wait till break time to cruise this site from work, but it's become clear to me that the OutdoorsFirst administration thinks very little of the Winnebago Walleyes site and the people who came here in the past. How long has it been since the pages have been updated. Nothing against Lonnie but isn't it time to change the main page, add some new articles etc. It would also have been nice if someone would have answered even one of the emails I sent voicing my concerns about the site. Guess what! I just discoved that I can't use my registered user name to post. It hasn't got enough letters. More bull!

Hey BD,

Sorry about the problems. We have burned through a bunch of them on MuskieFIRST and will apply the fixes from that board to this one. I changed the password min length to 1, so that should be fixed for you. Also, I know about the table display problem, I am assuming you are using a Netscape Version prior to 7. The problem was a table error I made when altering the board, I have patched it over on MF and will do the same here tonight. I highly recommend upgrading to Netscape 7, as it is Netscape, not IE, that has major gaps in it WC3 compliancy prior to version 7. Netscape 7 will improve your browsing experience on all sites, not just this one. New content is coming, we almost have all the pieces together for 2003, which will be a great year for Winnebago Walleyes and WalleyeFirst.

Thanks for hangin in there,

Zach

Thanks for replying so quickly. When the problems expanded to the "enhanced" message board and I hadn't received a reply to the email I sent in Jan. I started getting ticked off. I've had a little time to cool off now and I will try the Netscape upgrade.

P.S. I can't use my two letter user name. No problems with the password not being accepted so far.

Dave,

You obviously have it sir, congratulations! You can let me know what days you are interested in for a trip in 2004, and I will set up a stay next year for you at The Hideout. I will take you and a guest muskie fishing, and if you wish, send you home with a super bag of panfish fillets, too.

Great job, everyone! This one was alot of fun. The answer was on WalleyeFIRST, under the Thread Heading 'Board Ugrade'.

Well I got every clue wrong until the end. I guess that is not to bad.

Steve, I have no idea where the Hideout is, or what lake we would be fishing. Let me know and what time of year you think best and I will track down a date.
