Of the few Fish I have caught this year (being my first year muskie fishing), I have noticed over half had split fins, unfortuntely one was caused by me not knowing how to handle these beauties (since corrected by reading info on sites like these). Will a split fin heal?

I believe they do heal, but very slowly. I've caught fish with split fins and i know I caught a fish one fall and didn't have a knotless net therefor split its fins some. That same fish was caught the next spring and still had some split fins. I'm not sure how bad it is for the fish, but I now use a knotless net so the fish dont' get split fins. Even if a net is treated, it can split fins.

The fins do heal, and some heal pretty quickly. It is a good idea to get a coated knotless net none the less, easier on the fish overall and ends bait hook-ups in the webbing. Frabill it!!
