Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Let's be honest, some days god himself couldnt move a muskie.....when only a depth charge, set of shocking booms, or a chemical spill will bring any muskie "fishing" successes. What do you find yourself doing to make the day enjoyable? Here's a few of MY own personal favorites:
- Watching the Pleasureboater-scapades: kick back, drink a soda and watch the family strife that occurs when those 3 times a year boaters attempt to load or unload their boats.
-The Casting Constest: Who can come the closest, or actually hit, an object or acquatic animal (turtles being my/R_Hs favorites)?
-The "What the Hell Does This Do" Casts: Bought the bait at the shows 8 months ago, now is a good time to find out what the hell it does.
How about YOU? |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I switch to a Cubby and a bobber and direct dinner into my livewell in the form of Bluegills or Crappies. Or I go in. I am an older guy, and have discovered that there WILL be another day. Lots of them, barring getting run over by a commuter train or hit by a meteor. |

Location: Woodstock, IL | Here are a few of the things I do to pass time.
- Clock how fast an inner-tube deflates after being hit with an accurately cast tandem bucktail as it zips along behind a pleasure boat. Accuracy is important.
- Distance casting. How far can you heave your lure without backlashing? This is especially fun with heavy tackle and light lures. Accuracy is not important.
- Put the sonar in demo mode and marvel at all the fish under the boat.
- Look for lures stuck in trees or in stumps just under the surface and attempt to retrieve them.
- Bury your lure in a shallow stump mid-retrieve and then act as though you have a 50 pounder hooked. Be sure to yell and carry on as loudly as possible. Your partner should stand ready with the net as you "fight" the stump. See how long it takes to gather a crowd to marvel at your snag.
Good clean fun! |

Location: mount prospect illinois | Definately the casting contest happens. Conversation also tends to get kinda funny and goes into the gutter pretty fast. That doesnt seem to happen when there is movement and action. One tip though: there have been time swhen the "other" guys in the boat were playing and i stuck a good fish all of a sudden. Not often but it has happened so i use that as motivation and i keep reminding the other guys what happened in the past. |

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | The fishing never sucks, but sometimes the catching does. Just enjoy the time, unlike Mr. Worrall, this old guy figures each day is one more I've cheated father time on. There are only so many days alloted and I want to be sure to get my share!!Or maybe a few extra. |

Location: So. Illinois | I simply remind myself of the other options available to me (Back at the office working 10 to 12 hour days, being home working on the never ending list of honey-do's, visiting Mom working on her never ending list of "could you come by the house and help me with a few items", yard work, house work, etc). Then I smile, look for a new way to make the slow fishing day more interesting, then get right back at it.

Location: Davenport, IA | I love the idea of putting the fishfinder in demo mode! I will have to try that sometime. I lately have been doin more bass fishin which has been ok. They aren't muskies, but there better than nothin to catch. Usually I'll troll all over hoping to at least snag a log to get some excitement. |

Location: Eau Claire,WI | Having way too much experiece with this subject,I just keep on chucking lures and hope I can find a dumb one...
Sometimes I try to hit a turtle,no snappers, they bite back! I also like to check out the scenery even though I might have fished it 1,000 times.
I guess I look at things a bit different than most since my neck surgery 4 years ago.I am just happy to be able to musky fish although I am limited to what I use,I am still doing it and catching a few toothy critters. |

Location: Racine, Wi | Personally, there are a few things I do.
1. Avoid the Beav at all consequenses.
2. Drink some tastey Barley Pop and...
3. Once the Barley Pop is gone, see how many women I can smooze to.
(I have to do this while I can. Getting married in April)
4 Avoid the water police after sending a couple of Barley Pops to
their demise. |
